First Soccer Academy program for ages 6-14 is offered for four sessions during the year: outdoors during the Spring and Fall, as well as indoors for
Fall/Winter. The philosophy of the Academy is to provide an opportunity for participants to play soccer and receive coaching through practices and
games. Soccer First will take individual registrations, create the teams,
and provide the instruction at our facility.
This winter season we will offer two programs
for the academy.
We will offer a 3 vs. 3 format that focuses on training and small sided games for learning.
If you child has not played soccer or doesn't have much experience playing this would be the appropriate program to get them started. In the 3 vs. 3 format, players will have more time on the ball, with less players on the field, and the focus will be on training and learning rather than competition. Scores and standings will not be recorded.
The players will meet for an hour. Two teams of 4-6 players will meet once a
week. The class
will be split into training & playing small sided soccer games (3 v
3, 4 v 4). Some days may be more dedicated to practice & some will be dedicated to play.
We will have soccer academy teams that compete in the Soccer First indoor leagues.
We will form teams out of individual registrations. These teams will compete in the Soccer First indoor soccer leagues. They will play the 9 game session and will have 5 practices. These teams will play on the same dates and times listed in the Indoor League information on the Soccer First website. Practices dates will be established as the teams form.
Although the focus of this program is playing and learning, some of the teams in the Soccer First leagues are competitive and players registering for this program should have playing experience.
Level 1 - Beginners: for new players, teams will practice and play 3 vs. 3 games as an introduction to soccer. Focus is on learning the skills and concepts through participation.
Level 2 - Intermediate/Advanced: we will create teams of individual registrations that will play on the big field in the Soccer First leagues. For players who have participated in the academy program or other soccer programs. These games are competitive but the philosophy for the academy teams is learning and to gain experience playing rather than winning.
The idea for the program is to offer participants a variety of options
and chances to develop. This format will provide more consistency to
our program. In this format you will be able to start at the beginning
level and stay with your team and/or move up through the program. Soccer First will make every effort to put the teams into appropriate divisions.
